Baths Questionnaire & Drop-ins

Future of Jacobs Wells Baths

We want your views on the future of the Jacobs Wells Baths. Read on for the news on this beautiful building and an invitation to the next drop in to see this piece of local history for yourself.

Many of you may now know that after an amazing 30 years, Bristol Community Dance Centre Ltd have handed back the keys to the Jacobs Wells Baths building.  Not wishing for the building to be vacant, Bristol City Council who own the building, have signed a 6 month licence to occupy with ArtspaceLifespace Charitable Company (ASLS).  This gives time for BCC to carefully consider the long term future of the building.

ArtspaceLifespace will be permitted to use the building for dance, music, fitness, arts and community activities (including hiring out space to other groups).  See attached Mayor Office response and ASLS press release for more information.  If you want to book space or find out more please contact

Central Clifton and Harbourside Neighbourhood Partnership have made funding available to employ Vivid to carry out a first stage feasibility study to inform the long term future of the building.  Many of you came along to the Drop In on Saturday and it was great to see so many people using the space and sharing their memories and ideas.

We will need ideas, energy and enthusiasm if we are to create a financially sustainable future for this Grade 2 listed building.  We would like you to tell us more about what you would like to see happen. This is an opportunity to contribute your ideas and views.  If you have not already completed the survey, this on-line questionnaire should take no longer than 5 minutes (but can take longer if you have more to say!).  There is plenty of room at the end of the survey to write down your views in a free text field (unlike the recent RPZ consultation!).  The link is here:

We have two further Drop Ins at Jacobs Wells Baths both between 1 and 4.  The first, on 12th November will have a focus DANCE and other PERFORMING ARTS.  We will be holding a further drop in with a focus on Architecture and Heritage and this will take place on the 3rd December.
