WHAT IS IT? ~ JACOBS WELLS COMMUNITY SINGING is based in Jacobs Wells Community Hub and offers an opportunity for you to find your voice, meet other members of your community and learn some simple songs.
WHO IS IT FOR? ~Whether you have just turned 10 or are nudging 100, if you have always wanted to sing but never quite plucked up the courage, then these Thursday Evenings might be for you. Aimed at the communities of BS1 & BS8 postcodes. Free for young people between the ages of 10 and 18, low cost for 18 and above.
WHEN IS IT? ~ Every Thursday. Arrival is from 6.30pm and we will start promptly at 6.45pm, aiming to finish at 8.15pm. Starting 25th May 2017. There will be no session on 15 June.
WHERE IS IT? ~ Jacobs Wells Community Hub Space at Jacobs Wells Baths, Jacobs Wells Rd, Hotwells, Bristol, BS8 1DX – See Google Map.
HOW WILL IT WORK? ~ We always begin with some gentle warm up exercises before we move into learning some simple songs. All the songs are taught by ear, occasionally we might print the lyrics on paper but we don’t read sheet music.
DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO A TERM? ~ Between the start of these sessions at the end of May and early September all of the sessions will be bookable on a week by week basis. From September 2017 if there is enough interest, prices will be kept on a sliding scale and will be booked and paid for termly.
WHERE DO THE TEACHERS COME FROM? ~ Rosalind and Sam live locally and both enjoy singing. Neither are professional singers, they simply love singing.. Recently they both decided they wanted to do more singing, Rosalind sings with a new Eastern European Singing Group called FERN, and is trained in running groups. Sam having left a junior choir last year, began earlier this year to assist a professional singer songwriter and teacher Tallulah Rendall with her workshops.
WHATS THE OVERALL INTENTION WITH THIS COMMUNITY SINGING GROUP? ~ To bring together different members of the BS1 & BS8 community to sing together, all welcome, If a regular group becomes established then we will look to invite in different teachers for quarterly Saturday or Sunday workshops. We may even decide to perform locally.
CAN I ATTEND IF I DON’T LIVE IN BS8 OR BS1? ~ Yes, however the ticket price is a little higher.
WHY SING? ~ Singing is one of the best things we can do for our overall health and wellbeing, especially singing in groups.

WHY BOOK ONLINE? There are lots of good reasons why we want to encourage you to book online, here are just a few . . .
Booking online cuts down on time consuming manual administration, both on the day and afterwards for the community singing leaders. It also allows us to collect a little bit of information about you as a participant which helps us when we next apply for funding.
We appreciate and understand some of our community are not accustomed to going online so for those of you unable to book online, please do get in touch and let us help. For those who don’t go online, one of us from the Hub Team can collect your cash and fill in the booking details. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
Any questions, please contact Judy at firstname.lastname@example.org
Looking forward to singing with you!
