Jacobs Wells Baths Community Asset Transfer Update

Fusion Lifestyle are on target and the proposed handover is set to take place on Monday 1st October 2018. Various surveys have been done, and further investigative work will take place in the next two to three months. Fusion are obliged to undertake immediate emergency repairs. There are safety concerns in respect of certain parts of the building. We all know the roof leaks. Jacobs Wells Community Hub were given notice to quit on the 18th September 2018 by Artspace Lifespace at the end of their tenancy. We are hoping to temporarily use the building prior to its complete refurbishment.

Fusion Lifestyle ploughs all profits from its operations back into the business to provide affordable health and fitness for all. www.fusion-lifestyle.com

Jacobs Wells Community Hub have been organising regular events in our hub space throughout summer 2018. The future has been uncertain which is why we have not issued a newsletter until now.

Washing in the Well, Heritage Lottery Funded Project
The official launch of the project was on 21st July at Jacobs Wells Baths. Wilbert Smith from the Heritage Lottery Fund gave a very supportive speech saying that our project was wide ranging, and that it included large and small local organisations as well as our community.

Help needed at Bristol Open Doors – Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2018 (10am – 5pm both days).

We are venue 33 in the Bristol Open Doors programme. We need you to support us at this significant event. Either drop in to catch up with our progress, OR join us as a volunteer for however long you can spare. Email judyjwrhub@gmail.com or heather4jwrhub@gmail.com. Short informal briefing meetings are being held in the baths on Sunday 9th September (10.30) and Monday 10th September (7pm).

Bring your own headphones and smartphones to listen to our downloadable sound files while you tour the baths. A wifi password will be provided on site, on the day.

As in the picture above, you are invited to create a design inspired by Jacobs Wells Baths. Share this on Instagram @jwrhub #bristolopendoors #jacobswellsbaths. This means that we can all share the pictures and Bristol Open Doors will give us a publicity boost. You can do this with your young people in advance, or on the day of your visit. A small amount of lego available on the day.

There will be guided tours and other activities.

Graffiti on our building was removed within 24 hours of us reporting it to the council removal team. Not such a target anymore. Shows the importance of keeping an eye on our building.
